Job summary The post holder will be required to work as part of a team providing a booking service to the cardiology department.
This requires close liaison with consultants, patients, medical and nursing staff, physiologists and managers.
This is a multi-skilled and busy role with frequent requirements for concentration, where the work pattern can be unpredictable with regular interruptions.
Handling of complex and sensitive information and the need for confidentiality is integral to the post.
The post holder will require a working knowledge of IT systems, in addition to knowledge specific to Cardiology.
The role will include booking patients for outpatient clinics, diagnostic tests and handling GP, BHT clinician and patient queries.
The post holder will be expected to work without direct supervision and will be expected to liaise and communicate as appropriate.
Main duties of the job To deal professionally with patient queries in line with guidance from the Trust's Access Policy using tact and persuasive skills.
To be responsible for accurate input of confidential data onto the hospital's Careflow system.
This requires detailed knowledge of eRS, EVOLVE, Careflow and CCW amongst others.
To be knowledgeable about and understand medical terminology to ensure the correct transfer of clinical information onto the Carefow system.
To use the PTL to determine sequence of patients to be booked, adhering to the rules of the 18 week patient pathway.
Liaise with the Cardiology teams to ensure appointments are arranged for outpatients and diagnostic procedures to ensure maximum use of available clinical capacity.
