Job summary A vacancy has arisen for a Biomedical Scientist in the Greater Manchester Immunology Service at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust.
Applicants will be employed as a Band 5 unless they have successfully completed an IBMS Specialist Portfolio in Immunology where they will be eligible for AfC Band 6.
Applications will also be considered from individuals who are not yet HCPC registered but have completed their registration portfolio and are within 6 months of completing an accredited degree.
Candidates in this case will be employed as a Band 5 (Annex 21).
Upon successful completion of all qualifications the post would be made substantive.We were the first immunology service in the UK to hold UKAS/ISO 15189 accreditation and have continually expanded our scope and repertoire of tests to become one of the biggest regional immunology centres in the country.The laboratory offers a comprehensive test repertoire for the immunological investigation of patients from GPs and hospitals in Greater Manchester and across the North West.
The four main areas covered are allergy, autoimmunity, immunodeficiency and haematological malignancy.
The service is a major contributor to the Greater Manchester Haematological Cancer Diagnostic Partnership (HCDP).Please note, this vacancy may close earlier than the advertised closing date if a sufficient number of applications have been received.
Main duties of the job Working as part of a team of biomedical scientists you'll provide a high-quality scientific service, assist with the running of a section of ourlaboratory and the development of the diagnostic service the department provides.
The role will enable you to develop and widen your technicaland scientific skills.To apply, you should be HCPC Accredited, with experience working in an NHS Clinical immunology laboratory.
To be appointed as a Band 6 you must fulfil the person specification in terms of appropriate qualifications and experience.
Moreover, you should be ambitious and keen to develop your skills.Applications from individuals who have not yet completed the IBMS Immunology Specialist Portfolio will also be considered for a Band 5 post.
