Job summary Biomedical Scientist Nuffield Health Oxford Manor Hospital | Pathology | Fixed Term Contract - 12 months | Full time |Competitive salary, depending on experience hours per week Main duties of the job Be competent to work in different sections of the laboratory.
Participate in the production of histology sections for microscopic examination.
This includes: Biopsy / specimen transfer Tissue processing Embedding Microtomy Staining Microscopy.
Prepare staining solutions and reagents and to assist in the maintenance of adequate stocks of reagents and consumables.
Ensure the efficient and safe use of consumables and equipment within the working area.
Participate in internal quality control procedures and external quality assurance procedures.
Participate in quality assurance procedures and corrective actions.
Communicate with clinicians, laboratory and clinical staff from the Manor Hospital and other organisations regarding samples required, appropriateness of tests, provision of results etc.
Work according to the regulations and codes of practice governing aspects of Health and Safety relevant to the department.
Maintain a high level of professional competence in the performance of all tests and investigations carried out in the laboratory.
