BFBS The Forces Station wants to hear from you if you're an experienced music radio producer who is looking for a new challenge in a senior leadership role. A central role based in BFBS HQ, the Deputy Head of Network Radio is a core member of the BFBS Radio leadership team, working across the 20x English-language services that make up our network. The role will oversee all areas of music playlisting/scheduling, as well as leading station sound and delivery of promotions. They will also have oversight of the weekend network schedule, manage freelance presenters, and will deputise for the Head of Network as necessary.
BFBS is a charity that exists to entertain, inform, connect and champion serving British Forces personnel and their families. BFBS Radio operates from 20 sites around the world, offering live and local programming in military communities in the UK and overseas. Music, imaging and promotions are programmed centrally, with local presenters producing live and local radio shows across multiple day parts. Our national DAB+ service operates from our HQ in Chalfont, which also provides networked programming and a sustaining service to the network.
ResponsibilitiesOversee music playlisting/scheduling and station sound delivery.Manage the weekend network schedule and freelance presenters.Deputise for the Head of Network as necessary.Minimum RequirementsExtensive experience in music radio production, particularly in station sound, imaging, and audio promotions, along with knowledge of broadcast scheduling and playout software.Experience in music radio presentation and the ability to shape/structure radio programmes.Excellent knowledge of popular music across all genres and experience in contributing to music policy and scheduling workflows.Proven leadership skills, including confidence in taking editorial decisions and experience of line management.Experience working with niche audiences and ability to produce suitable content for the British Forces audience on audio and digital platforms.This is a hybrid role and you will be required to attend your base in Chalfont St Peter for a minimum of two days per week, subject to business needs.
