What is important to me!
I need a mixed staff team who can support me at my pace.
My Autism means that I cannot tolerate people placing demands on me, I am sensitive to loud and outgoing people and would prefer my staff team to be quiet and introvert, with a dry sarcastic sense of humour.
I have lived in a hospital environment for many years and this will the first time I have lived in the community, so it is so important for my staff team to understand how difficult this transition is going to be for me.
We want everyone who accesses our services to have the opportunity to live their best life possible.
You will be supporting me to work towards person-centered outcomes, which to me is "living the retirement life", no pressure and no demands. You will support me to develop independent living skills and maintain my home at my pace, whilst integrating into life in my local community.
Kingswell is a single occupancy home for a young man with Autism and learning disabilities, he is a very able young man who enjoys walking and visiting the local community, especially the local charity shops.
The property is in the market town of Morpeth, a bustling and historic place with plenty of shops, markets, and heritage to explore.Regular buses link the town with its surrounding villages and larger attractions such as Newcastle and Alnwick.
We will have a core background team on duty 24/7 so there is overnight shifts and we will provide additional 1:1 support, ranging from personal care, housekeeping, and meals to days out and trips to the shops and activities.
Your values: What essential skills and experience is needed for the role?
Naturally it is important too that you share our company values - We Include; We Deliver; We Aspire; We Respect; We Enable, which are at the heart of everything we do and ensure that we deliver high quality, consistent care and support.
