Who you'll be supporting & more about the role: This opportunity is at a supported living service in the beautiful countryside in South Chailey, so BEING A DRIVER IS ESSENTIAL, AS PUBLIC TRANSPORT LINKS ARE LIMITED.
There are 6 purpose-built apartments and 2 short-stay flats.
The service focuses on providing complex care to the people we support, who may have restrictions in their care plans due to risk, and that may have safeguards in place.The team work hard to provide active support to the people who live there.
This service has been described as accepting the most complex individuals in the county.
For some people, this is their only chance to live in a community setting.
The people we support can present with behaviours of concern during situations they find difficult.
This could be associated with other diagnosis such as Autism, emotionally unstable personality disorder, schizoaffective disorder and ADHD.
We work under a positive behaviour support model where we are proactive to identify if someone's day isn't going so well and work on how we can make it better!The team are so proud to support our people, some of whom have been institutionalised for many years before.
The support worker team are trained to understand any anxieties and behaviours of concern, while keeping people safe.
This means the people we support can lead their best lives possible and can attend church, college, go on country walks, go bowling, visit steam railways, visit animal rescue centres, play mini golf, attend discos or virtual cooking classes - to name but a few!The service is not yet fully occupied, as the complexity of the people referred to us, means that it can take time for the people we support to settle in.
New referrals are an intricate process where everyone's needs are paramount and fully considered.
There are currently two people living in the service and hopefully up to 4 more in the coming months and years.
We can't wait to welcome you, and everyone, to our amazing location!With experience working in a health or social care setting, you will need to have an upbeat positive manner, as well as having a genuine passion for supporting people to become part of their local and wider community.It would also be an advantage if you have experience working with people who present challenging behaviours that require intensive support planning, but not essential as full paid training will be provided.

We will develop your talents with a range of specialist training, including the opportunity to learn Positive Behaviour Support methods, Makaton and the Picture Exchange System.
During recruitment you will meet the people we support in their home.
This will allow you to see their wonderful personalities first-hand and fully understand the level of support that they require.
