Job summary To improve the flow of patients through the emergency and acute pathway across the site, supporting teams to ensure patients receive timely assessment and discharge from the ward areas.
A key function to this role is liaising and communicating with stakeholders to prevent delays in this pathway and deliver timely flow across the site supporting the decongestion of ED and supporting patients getting the right care, at the right time in the right place.
The post holder will be part of the site operational team and will ensure early intervention and escalation at the key points in the patients journey to maintain patient safety, high qualitypatient care, patient flow and performance against the emergency standards.This is a non-clinical role.
The flow co-ordinator will be required to be familiar with all emergency standard key performance indicators (KPIs), processes and work closely with the clinical and operational teams in across the site to enable early escalation of issues within the pathway.
Main duties of the job Key Result Areas & Performance: Support of patient flow across the site - Understand all departmental key performance indicators.
Support the use of all available pathways Escalate any delays in line.
Document all delays and escalations and maintain accurate and comprehensive records to support after action review and audits Step in to assist flow in areas that are delayed within the remit of the role for example admissions on icare, photocopying and escalation to more senior operational and clinical staff Responsible for reporting safeguarding incidents as instructed by nurse in charge.
To cover the ward areas.
Support the timely flow of patients across the site in line with agreed models of operational models Link with pathology/ imaging to support ward escalations Liaise with, and support ward nurse in charge to ensure a strong operational presence along the pathway Regular link with Senior Clinical Site Manager (SCSM Clinical Site Manager (CSM) regarding any delays.
Working closely with the Service Manager for ward areas Chase any delays for discharge from wards pharmacy, transport.
Update bed boards to accurately reflect patients in beds Support all areas with flow in times of extremise all teams could be called to ED or other ward areas to help move patients.

Person Specification Experience Essential Experience of working within an acute setting Experience of working emergency standards within emergency and acute pathways Personal Qualities Essential Fast and accurate keyboard skills for data reporting and entry Evidence of good communication skill Literate / Numerate to standards required to fulfil the role Ability to organise self and others.
