Job summary Southgates and The Woottons Surgeries are based inKing's Lynn and it has a long and proud history of excellent patient care.We are looking for a Bank Practice Nurse to join ourfriendly and professional team in serving our patients.The working hours at the surgery to be covered aregenerally 08:00 to 18:00.This role is for a bank contract, as such there is no guarantee of hours.

Responsible to: Practice ManagerAccountable to: Practice Manager Major duties and responsibilities1.
Toarrange and supervise programmes of assessment, screening and treatmenttogether with general health education advice:a) The provision of nursing servicesfor the Practice, including working with doctors and other practiceprofessionals as appropriate.b) Provide nursing treatments topatients in conjunction with the general practitioners or independently toagreed laid down protocols.c) To arrange for general and specifichealth screening to practice patients - subject to agreed protocols - and withreferrals to general practitioners as necessary.d) To arrange for patients to beadvised on general health care and minor ailments with onward reference togeneral practitioners if necessary.e) To administer childhood/ adultvaccinations in accordance with national standards.2.
Treatmentroom - supplies and equipment:a) In conjunction with the seniorPractice Nurse, make sure consulting/treatment rooms are fully stocked withequipment and clinical consumables relating to patient care.b) To clean all medical equipment in anappropriate manner.3.
Pathologicalspecimens and investigatory procedures:a) To collect pathological specimensincluding intravenous blood samples, swabs, smears, etc.
for investigatoryprocedures requested by the general practitioners.b) To hold and store all specimenscorrectly for collection by the laboratory messengers.
Ensurethey are collected and stored in accordance with laid down clinicalprocedures.
Special regard must be paidto COSSH regulations.4.
Infection Control:a) To take on the InfectionControl champion responsibilities if needed.b) To perform and participate in InfectionControl Audit at both sites.c) To comply with infection controlstandards and policies.

Professional responsibilities:To ensure communication between thepractice nurses and the rest of the medical centre team by:a) Ensuring that details of allconsultations and presentations by patients are properly recorded on the SystmOnecomputer system.b) Complete all necessary health authorityand other documentation as required by the practice, such as child vaccinereturnsc) To attend and participate inappropriate meetings.d) To assist the senior Practice Nursecarrying out practice philosophy, strategy, procedures and general policy.e) To assist fully in the clinicalgovernance procedures of the medical centre to ensure safe practice and acontinuous review of quality standards.f)Toparticipate in the team philosophy of the medical centre.6.
Audit andresearch: To participate with the partnersand other clinical staff as required in any audit or research projects withinthe practice.7.
Educationand training of practice staff:a) Participate in the education andtraining of students of all disciplines.b) Maintain awareness of current clinicaldevelopments and trends by reading and researching current articles to maintainup to date clinical standards.8.
