Job summary *The unsupervised repair and maintenance of medical equipment for UHB NHS Foundation Trust.
*Assisting clinical and nursing staff in proper configuration and use of medical equipment.
*Support the use and implementation of the Departmental Equipment Management System.
*Have the knowledge of and support the use of the Department's Quality Management System.
*The post holder will have knowledge of all Departmental procedures, health and safety regulations and any legislation that is relevant to the job.
*This post will be specifically aimed at supporting the Maternity unit at Birmingham Heartlands Hospital so knowledge and experience of working in a Maternity environment is essential.
Main duties of the job *Commissioning and decommissioning of medical devices.
*Installation of medical systems.
*Repair, servicing and testing a range of medical equipment in varied clinical settings.

Job description Job responsibilities *Please Note : For a detailed job description for this vacancy, please see attached Job Description* Person Specification Qualifications Essential *Professional electronics knowledge through BEng in electronics or equivalent.
*Manufacturer approved technical training on a wide range of complex medical equipment.
*Evidence of attendance of short courses and regular updating of training required Experience Essential *Substantial experience in the repair and maintenance of medical equipment.
*A comprehensive understanding and competence in the repair and maintenance of medical equipment specific to the section.
*Ability to record and analyse work data.
*Relevant knowledge and competence in electronics, mechanics, pneumatics, anaesthetics, gas, infusion therapies computing and physiological measurement, as appropriate to the section *Experience of working in Maternity, specifically neonatal units.
Additional Criteria Essential *Dexterity and good hand-eye coordination required to work on a range of complex equipment *Hold UK Driving Licence *Must regularly participate in the departments "on call" service as required.
*Ability to work and communicate with Clinical and Nursing staff.
*Ability to work under pressure on occasions.
*Able to communicate effectively.
