ASSISTANT ESTIMATOR POSITION : Assistant Estimator LOCATION : Hull SALARY AND BENEFITS : £25k - £30 Dependent on experience , 25 days holiday plus bank holidays, pension, healthcare and life insurance THE ROLE : This is an exciting opportunity for someone who has either got some experience working in an Estimating role and wishes to expand their knowledge , or candidates who have no relevant experience but would like the opportunity to start their career in estimating.

In addition to this they offer the opportunity to receive first class training and support as you develop your career, allowing you to gradually take on more responsibility as you become more experienced YOU MUST HAVE THE FOLLOWING : Strong IT skills, particularly in Excel, with a willingness to learn new estimating software.
Excellent analytical, mathematical, and communication skills with an attention to detail.
Enthusiasm for learning new skills and working in a primarily office- based environment, with occasional site visits.
Some level of knowledge of Building and Construction or Engineering would be desirable, particularly if you have done a formal qualification such as a HNC/HND , Diploma in Construction and the Built Environment or perhaps an Engineering qualification.
DUTIES WILL INCLUDE : You would work alongside the General Manager, Contracts Manager, and external Estimators to gain hands-on experience with pricing and quoting for a variety of projects and when appropriate take on the following responsibilities: Small Jobs (Take-offs): Manage estimations for smaller projects, using spreadsheets to calculate quantities and develop pricing based on labour norms.
Research the cost of materials, equipment, transport and labour.
Pricing and Quotation: Collaborate with suppliers and both the internal and external teams to create comprehensive cost estimates, accurate quotations and timescales.
Office Support: Assist Managers with technical administration, follow up on enquiries, order materials, and ensure that quoted prices reflect actual costs.
Prepare RAMs as needed for projects.
Help with bids for new contracts and support buying activities.
Monthly Cost Tracking: Produce monthly spreadsheets to monitor and review project expenses, making sure costs are kept in line with forecasts.
