We are seeking to appoint an Animal Technologist to work alongside a highly motivated team in the biological research facilities.Following a comprehensive new starter training program, you will undertake the duties that support the care and welfare of animals and research support, working to and maintaining the highest standards for animals in our care.

Following training you will be responsible for the animals in your care, working closely with other members of the CBS team to deliver an excellent service to the research community at Imperial.You will be responsible for the daily feeding, watering, cleaning, checking and record keeping of animals and the checking and cleaning of equipment and rooms whilst working alongside other members of the team and researchers, therefore good interpersonal and communication skills are essential.
A good understanding of computer systems and databases is desirable but not essential as full training will be provided.Participation in weekend rota working and during statutory holiday periods will be required, for which appropriate overtime rates apply.
Applicants should hold IAT Level 2 and an appropriate Home Office Personal Licence.A good level of experience in the field of animal technology is essential.A basic working knowledge of pre- and post-operative care of common laboratory species is essential, as well as knowledge of transgenic breeding disciplines.An understanding or experience in cage washing operations.Applicants must demonstrate the ability to work independently as well as within a team and must have proven experience to organise and prioritise their own work well.An understanding of how your work complements the wider facility workload and operations is essential.You will be taking an active role in ensuring the facility is maintained in accordance with Home Office legislation and the Association for Assessment and Accreditation of Laboratory Animal Care (AAALAC) standards.
