Job Description What's in it for you? We have an exciting opportunity for an ambitious Accounts Payable Assistant to join our finance team.
Working within Accounts Payable at Octopus provides the opportunity to work with stakeholders from across the business, we are a people centric organisation and being helpful and supportive is key in this role. Reporting to the Accounts Payable Manager, this role requires an individual who is highly organised, has good attention to detail, capable of both dealing with multiple workstreams and running defined processes efficiently and autonomously. The team: Accounts Payable are a team of 3-4 individuals who collaboratively work as part of a wider finance function of c.50 that operates across various business areas and specialisms What will you be doing? In this role you will be responsible for all aspects of supplier invoices – this includes timely processing, accurate Prepayment recording, VAT reclaim and prompt payment. You will process weekly payment runs via Bacs, managing and inputting Priority Payments. Dealing with invoice queries – taking ownership of requests and issues, creating stakeholder goodwill by providing appropriate solutions in a timely manner and within agreed SLAs On a monthly basis you will reconcile supplier statements and produce the month end pack which includes control account reconciliations and providing detailed analysis of Aged Items. Assisting with projects and team duties as and when required, including the team mailbox, staff expenses and new supplier set-ups. Qualifications Ideally, you'll have: Proven experience in all aspects of Account Payable Extensive knowledge of VAT Recovery rules Self-motivated and organised, with the ability to meet strict deadlines and work to team SLAs Demonstrable track record of improving processes and controls. Excellent communication skills and stakeholder management, with the ability to quickly build relationships within their team and across departments.
