The American Chemical Society is looking for an experienced and adaptable individual with the desire to work and develop skills that will support the business growth objectives set for a team of Senior Account Managers.
Already established as the most-trusted, most-cited, and most-read journals in the chemistry-related sciences, ACS products are well-known to and deeply respected by current and potential customers alike.
They will be responsible for pre-sales activities and projects, sales prospecting efforts to generate qualified leads, and to help close sales cycles to new and renewing institutional customers within defined markets and customer segments.
An essential part of this role is team related and working closely with their field-based colleagues and marketing to maximize revenue opportunities.
They will be both strategic and tactical and have a data driven approach to adapt to changing needs, ideally suited for someone who enjoys learning to use data systems but also to apply that knowledge to real commercial objectives.
Position Accountabilities : Learn to use internal systems and processes to effectively uncover prospective sales targets under the supervision of a senior colleague until fully able to work independently or jointly based on needs.
Help execute campaigns in conjunction with Marketing to generate customer interest in ACS products and services and to educate customers and prospects on relevant messages for which ad hoc training and coaching will be provided.
Strengthen direct ties with the institutions, increase visibility of ACS's products & services and increase sales opportunities.
Actively work with team members to be able to support them in their daily activities.
Help identify target audiences and develop independent plans with specific objectives across different channels and segments and an ability to recognize opportunistic sales objectives when they present is also important.
This position is ideally suited to an individual with good communication skills and a desire to make a difference, a team player but disciplined and logical so they can establish, build, and nurture positive and mutually beneficial relationships inside the organization and with customers to reach the set targets Attend key events and conferences in the team region if needed.
Basic Qualifications: Strong, demonstrated communications and interpersonal skills.
Additional languages would be an advantage.
Ability to work independently and as part of a small team to develop goals and objectives that have a significant impact on revenue.
Good presentation skills, both virtually and in-person Strong organization, multi-tasking and decision-making skills Adaptable and analytical – able to think creatively to identify new areas of opportunity and to overcome competitive and market threats.
Ability to collaborate within the team to constantly develop skills and support team goals.
Preferred Qualifications 2+ years of sales experience, preferably within publishing Experience using Salesforce.com but training can be provided Additional languages would be an advantage
