Location: Dorchester, Dorset Contract Type: Flexible (Monday to Friday, term-time) Duration: Ongoing, with potential to extend into the new year About the Role: Dorchester Primary School is seeking a dedicated and experienced 1:1 Teaching Assistant to provide support to a student with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
This is a flexible, term-time role that will involve working Monday to Friday, with the opportunity to extend into the new year.
We are looking for a candidate with strong SEN experience who is passionate about helping children thrive in an inclusive and nurturing environment.
Key Responsibilities: Provide 1:1 support to a student with SEN, tailoring your approach to meet their individual learning needs.
Assist the student in engaging with the curriculum and participating in class activities.
Collaborate with the class teacher and SENCo to implement personalised learning plans and strategies.
Monitor progress, provide feedback, and help adjust support strategies as necessary.
Encourage positive behaviour and social development, promoting confidence and independence.
Ensure the student's safety and well-being, fostering an inclusive learning environment.
Key Requirements: Experience working with children with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
Patient, adaptable, and empathetic approach to supporting students.
Strong communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with both students and colleagues.
Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.
Knowledge of SEN teaching strategies and relevant frameworks.
Available to work Monday to Friday, with flexible hours based on availability.
Desirable Skills: Previous experience as a 1:1 Teaching Assistant or in a similar SEN support role.
Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 2/3 Teaching Assistant, SEN training).
First Aid certification (or willingness to complete training).
